Strange proposal Wednesday, May 07, 2014 Imran Khan has proposed setting up civil nuclear reactors mutually shared by Pakistan and India. Considering the kind of relations between the two countries and the ground realities, this proposal appears to be unrealistic. The Indians will spare no opportunity to marginalise and defame us internationally. They oppose all our efforts to acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. They have access to the US and Paris Nuclear club to acquire nuclear technology which can be used for enriching uranium for a nuclear bomb. These superpowers are not ready to sign the Non Proliferation Treaty themselves but expect us to do the same. They have turned down our offer to make South Asia a nuclear-free zone. In these circumstances how do we expect them to share nuclear technology with us? We expect our politicians, particularly the head of an important political party, to be realistic in their approach and not make suggestions for mere point scoring.
