I just have to say I am very pleased with all the love and support that has been bestowed upon the Boone family and Otis legacy. He was definitely a man who put family and friends before himself or his own needs. I am proud to have my name associated with such a man. He was always there for me when I needed him as I was and am still for him! His father Ronnie Boone was also a man of great character and that is where Otis learned to live the way he did along with the rest of his family. I cant lie as many of you know I dont drink anymore and the first thing I wanted to do when I heard the news of Otis passing was drink away the pain as I have wanted to do with other moments of turmoil or despair. Otis was there some of them times and would deter me with just a few simple words such as no youre not followed by one of the many nicknames or or adjectives he had that he called me or described me with. Nothing more needed to be said as just the feeling I would get from the tone that he used when he spoke on something that he cared about would ease any tension or animosity I had. Just knowing that he wouldnt want me to fall is what kept me and keeps me strong that day and today! I dont think it has really set in that hes gone to me yet as much as it already hurts. I believe that Otis is still watching the block and seeing people come together and take care of/help each other Is why he left! We take pride in our little neighborhood across the tracks as well as the rest of the village of Roebling! I am calling for you people to stop waring with each other and Stand united and let outsiders know we watch out for each other! Watch each others children, protect each other, have respect for your neighbor, have respect for peoples homes, you see a piece of trash on the ground pick it up throw it in a can. Say please, show gratitude! Help someone when they need it and are deserving of it! Karma is real! Pay it forward! Stop speeding on Amboy and railroad ave as well as the rest of the blocks! Kids are playing there or over there or around that corner! This is what O envisioned! What he strived for! Have compassion.. Demand respect by giving respect... Something good has to come out of losing someone so damn important to to so damn many! Let his light shine! I call you Sun cause you shine like one! I love ya O the bond we share is unbreakable! Ill never forget you my brother......YEEEEOOOOOOTTTTTTTT YEEEOOOOO!!!!!!
