I just heard a story on the radio about a man in San Francisco in the past. He walked to the Golden Gate Bridge one day, out to the middle and gazed at the water below then back at the city. He then climbed over the rail and jumped 220 feet to the water below. He hit the water so hard that it broke most of the bones in his body and killed him. Police recovered his body and were able to find out who he was. They went to his apartment and entered to find a note on the dresser in his bedroom. It was very short and said, Im am going to walk out on the Golden Gate Bridge and if anybody smiles at me on the way I wont jump. It is so sad how much people have become so involved in their own world that they dont realize or seemingly care about anybody else anymore. :( I do understand how people can feel on top of the world when everything seems to be going their way then how it feels when the realization that it really isnt sets in. :( So many times the general consensus is that some form of social services or professional help is responsible for bringing these people out of their slump. God knows I dont have time to even smile or say hello to a stranger for I am just so busy they are not my problem much less my responsibility in any stretch of the imagination. :( I worked so hard for what I have that if they would just do the same thing they wouldnt have any problems !! If these are your sentiments I would suggest you take a long look at yourself in the mirror for the blood in your body has turned so cold. :( The world is full of people who have never had the opportunities the wealthy and privileged nations offer their citizens. The citizens of these nations dont all have the same opportunities to succeed for there are numerous social rungs on the ladder at our birth. Charity comes from the heart and without a heart it is so easy to see why so many really dont care at all. May I suggest that regardless of what form of BS you subscribe to, that you consider that we all have a responsibility to our fellow man even if we wish we didnt. How many lives come to a tragic end every day all over the world that something as simple as a smile could have prevented ? I love and adore all my friends and just want to make us all aware that money is not the cure for all ills. When somebody is obviously homeless, dirty, tattered and broke hopefully we can offer some money and regardless what they do or dont do with it shouldnt be our call. God knows our heart and that giving caring heart is what this world needs more of. O:)
