I just hope semi illiterates, nitwits and the decided ignorants, haters of history will learn not to refer to NAS( Pyrates Confraternity ),the Wole Soyinka and others inspired social movement against societal ills, such as tribalism and nepotism, as an occultic group much given to violence as we now witness on our campuses by youths on the pay rolls of power-hungry politicians for whom our students are just disposable tissues.Truth is,those various groups, referred to as cults on campuses, were creations of disgruntled elements who were expelled from Pyrates Confraternity for indiscipline and for their respective inability to cope with the very strict operational regulations of NAS.And to forestall the mix-up of these criminal gangs with the noble intention of Pyrates Confraternity,NAS,all campus decks were sunk in 1984,marking the official pull out of the group from our institutions of higher learning, thus terminating so-called students group. What this means is that any interested student now joins a deck of his choice, anywhere,as an individual It is the height of mischief by revisionists to refer to Pyrates as a cult or secrete society and group it among the criminal gangs in the deployment of politicians on our various campuses whose membership are shrouded in secrecy and operated behind hood and in the dark.NAS is a registered organization under the law of the land, and it has official website from which its history and activities can be gleaned.Yet,anyone on our campuses,pre-84,would know of its activities, especially during rag day operation when members were the official custodians of security around the cash cans before and after operation.Members are known by fellow students, and not by suspicion,or discussed in hush tones I have,at various times, advocated for official registration of so-called cultic groups by university/ polytechnic authorities to enable us know who the members are and their objectives, and see if any of the objectives of these various groups include killing and maiming of fellow students,in the guise of rivalry.Of course, where such happens, and are traceable to any member of such registered groups, the authority will deal will students involved as engaging in criminal activities which the extant law of the land forbids, and not as being a member of any of such groups, because no group would have put violence as part of its operational method while seeking registration. No need for proscription.Let us encourage them to come out for management and possible discipline,if and when need be
