From Soundways Records comes the debut full-length from electro-pop fusion outfit Ibibio Sound Machine. Fronted by London by-way-of Nigeria singer Eno Williams who switches between English and Ibibio, ISM freely mixes polished pop, sweaty funk and Africa-indebted post-punk with traditional forms like highlife and afrobeat. Single ‘Let’s Dance’ finds just the right balance between a polyrhythmic beat, blippy electronics and straight to the point hook, while ‘The Talking Fish’ and ‘The Tortoise’ employ funky, 70’s soul style bass lines and horn blasts.
