I just learned that front-load clothes washers need to be cleaned with a special cleaning packet once per month. If there’s already a clog/smell, you have to run a packet through for seven days in a row. You can use Tide Cleaning Packets, but there are other brands. Recently I also learned about the importance of properly cleaning the dishwasher filter. We had been cleaning it, but the washer still developed an odor. After checking the user manual, we learned there is a second filter under the one we were cleaning. Elbow grease and vinegar got it clean--no more odor. Be careful that you don’t cut your finger on any broken glass trapped in the filter.
