I just left the mosque. Its after 11 pm. What an amazing day. Earlier I attended a lecture on the Hope for the Holy Land: Pro Israel, Pro Palestine, Pro Peace, Pro Jesus. The business cards I collected today tell the story. 1. Sahar is an Israeli Jew working for just peace in the conflict for Palestinians and Jews. She is a very courageous young woman and was jailed for her convictions. 2. Dr. Charlie Abou Saada is a Palestinian Christian and works with churches in the West as the Church Relations Manager for World Vision Jerusalem. He seeks to help churches understand the situation in the West Bank. Personally he has to cross through a check point everyday to go to work. 3. Imam Faezi is the Dean of an Islamic seminary in Chicagoland (met at the Mosque tonight) and gave a lecture tonight on the legacy of Muhammad. Fascinating. We spoke at length afterwards with my good friend Jawad Khaki encouraging our conversation. I received a preliminary invitation to speak at his center to Muslim students on interfaith relations w Christians and introduce them to Christian churches in Chicago. Wonder who will bite from the Christian side on this amazing opportunity to build bridges with the Muslim community. Like I said in my previous post--I LOVE MY WORK! I feel God smiling.
