I just posted the following on James Webbs Facebook page. My paragraph breaks did not appear. I am going to re-insert them. I want to remind my friend Jim Webb that our Department of Defense is seriously concerned about Global Warming as a globally disruptive force. The impacts have already been severe & are going to get much worse. Existing problems will be exacerbated: Poverty, Migration....... New Ones (for westerners) : Resource Wars, Widespread Food Shortages.......... Of course, the coming Natural Disasters are obvious as weve seen them already: Droughts, Large Scale Fires, Flooding, etc. I AM NO EXPERT, but a concerned Citizen Activist. At the end of 2005, I was concerned about the failures of the Bush Administration to manage foreign or domestic affairs. I had the instinctual knowledge that Jim Webb could defeat a do-nothing zero named (Senator) George Allen. I was right. I did a lot to make him a candidate. My friends and I made it possible for him to run. I like Jim. I do believe that Jim has a lot to say about foreign policy. I think he is thoughtful on criminal justice issues. I appreciate very much the awesome work he did to get the Veterans Bill through Congress. That was a wonderful accomplishment. But, I do not see him as a presidential candidate. I dont see a person who has given sufficient thought to economic policy. As Jim knows, I have tried a number of times to get his attention about Global Warming. I have to think that he does not take it seriously. I reviewed the summary of his Senate term that he published on the internet. The only reference to the environment is an attack on the EPA for over-regulation. Id be pleased to discuss the history of our failure to address the Global Warming situation for the last few decades, but its a long discussion. This has to be taken seriously, Global Warming is a global problem, but there is a lot that we can do. We are a world leader. We do have the greatest economy in the world. The second greatest, Germany is doing an enormous amount. I guarantee everyone that Global Warming & the need to Build a Green Economy will be a central issue in the 2016 Presidential Campaign.
