I just read a book where three important characters had last names that began with H. In fact, two of them had surnames that began with Hay. Since it was a historical, that means they were mentioned as Lord and Lady Hayxxx. I had to keep going back to previous sections to figure out which person I was reading about. This seems to happen all the time in fiction. Once a heros name was Julius and an important secondary characters name was Julian (or vice-versa). A few weeks ago just about everyone in the book had a name that began with D. Why dont authors pay attention to this? It is so confusing!
