I just read a post on a friends wall that was very disturbing to me as a Christ follower. It seems there is a church up north thats about to split over a social issue. Every time I hear of a church splitting for whatever reason, for me its as if they all have decided to kill Jesus all over again. Following was my reply: * * * Organized religion is so lost. All of it. I accepted the living Spirit of Christ into my heart and life at the age of 22. It was one of the most profound and enlightening moments of my life just ahead of the birth of my son. My walk with Christ has been very unique and personal, as it should be with all of us. For me personally its not a belief, rather a KNOWING that the Spirit world it very real, and only a breath away. During these years of Spiritual growth, not once have I placed my name with a Church as a member or claimed any denomination, nor will I, EVER. ALL of that, including knowing your bible is all a distant 2nd to having a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ, THE Spirit. Sadly most Christians seem to be comfortable staying in the 1st grade of Spiritual growth and become obsessed with the bible as a student handbook, agonizing over every word. When Jesus appeared as a Spirit in the flesh after the resurrection in the Upper Room, He made it clear He would send The Comforter, meaning the The Holy Spirit. He said nothing about be on the lookout for a collection of writings that will come together 400 years from now that will be known as The Bible at the direction of the Roman Empire. He also said, Let there be NO divisions among you and Whats right for one may not be right for another. The best way to not have division within organized Church is to LOVE one another like God loves us. Will we all see eye to eye on social or any issues? No. But what we do have in common is sharing the LOVE of God with EVERYONE. Id say Whosoever is pretty inclusive, including gay people or anyone else our modern day Pharisees look down upon. Each time I hear of such 1st grade Spiritual activity like this, its as if they are killing Jesus all over again. Intellectual Church people who follow the Bible like a school handbook who have never met, given their life to, or even know Jesus Christ personally, are some of the most dangerous people in the world. Its also interesting to me that one can find the word demon in denomination. Bottom line, Jesus is very real and I love Him dearly for being with me every step and with every breath, both in good times and bad over the last 28 years. Id rather walk with Jesus alone, than be in a stadium filled with people talking about Him and debating about what the BOOK says. May Christs peace be with you all. PEACE.
