I just read something so interesting that I had to share on Facebook! I think this would qualify as train mean. So according to the Aerobics and Fitness Athletic Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons guess what the most expensive medical condition is to treat?? I said cancer, but NO, its chronic back pain. Crazy, right??! When you look at the cost of mris, doctor visits, medication, on-going treatment, co-morbidities (simultaneous presence of two chronic conditions), surgeries, hospital stays, complications from surgery, etc. the cost of treating chronic back pain is close to $200 billion per year. Many of these people end up on some type of awful pain medication, with even more awful side effects. Protect your backs people, and please, please, please if you know someone with back pain or any chronic pain - tell them to call or message me before using narcotics to manage pain. Anyone else shocked by this revelation???
