I just read the most disturbing article where an author literally, admittedly stalked a reviewer to the point she went to the reviewers house and confronted her over her 1 star review and supposed Twitter harassment that occurred after the author locked in and engaged. Please note: I will not link to this article. No way, no how, not when it contains the possible real identity of the blogger. Heres the thing. People dont have to use their real identities online. Some authors dont. I mean, when you have people willing to show up at your house, you can kinda understand why people create fake identities. Thats not being catfished. Authors - there is never a situation where its acceptable for you to seek out a reviewer online, in the real world, at their home or job. NEVER. It is not okay for you then to go do an article where you smear their name all over or the potential real name all because they reviewed your book and didnt like it. I mean, lets be real folks. Its just a freaking review. No one tossed your kitten in a frozen lake. It is not okay to do these things. And if any author has a hard time understanding how disgusting and disturbing this behavior is, flipped the script. Just imagine what it would feel like if someone hated your book so bad they paid for a background check, got your address, and showed up at your home. I cannot believe an author actually did this and then wrote about like something awesome was accomplished and she unveiled a bully or whatever. To be honest, it made me cringe to even be in the same profession, but also made me so angry for this blogger. This was a huge invasion of her privacy and unacceptable. This was a case of legitimate stalking and ... well, I cant. There simply no other words. None. To bloggers and reviewers: Please know that most, if not 98% of all authors are not like this, but I understand your anger right now and I understand your fear.
