I just read this review from someone who has just completed a cruise on MSC Opera - just to prove that people really do enjoy MSC cruises! I would welcome your opinions of which I know there will be many as we are talking about MSC. Back home from Baltic cruise on MSC Opera. We really liked the itinerary, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Tallin, Helsinki and of course the two days in St Petersburg. We tried to go with an open mind after reading lots of negative reviews about Opera, so here is our honest opinion. Our inside cabin was abit smaller than we get on P&O but the shower was tiny and you couldnt help but touch the shower curtain when using it. Also I thought very strange, they dont use duvets on the bed but a sheet and thin blanket, I didnt particularly like this as Im sure they dont change the blanket every cruise. The food we thought was good, in fact hubby says better than P&O, now the service in MDR in the evening was great, we had two lovely waiters and everything ran smoothly. Breakfast and sometimes lunch in MDR is abit of a different story, staff seem more disorganised and it can be chaotic. But food when it finally arrives is good. The staff are lots of different nationalities and there can be a certain language breakdown, some of the waiters and bar staff dont seem to know that British people (on the whole) like cold milk with their cup of tea, my parents got lukewarm water a few times until we said hot water, then you dont get given milk unless you ask for it, but its not a big problem, once you get the hang of how to ask for a cup of tea hot water and cold milk no problem lol. The staff were really friendly and many of the bar staff remembered what drinks we liked in the different bars and always were ready for a chat. The entertainment was in our opinion good, the Entertainment team , full of young people from Italy, Brazil, South Africa, Morocco, were hard working , fun and always made a fuss of people like my mum who is in a wheelchair. English was usually spoken as the 1st language with Italian, Spanish, French and German coming after, this was because the cruise went from Southampton and lots of British on board, I dont know if it was the other way round and English down the list I would be so easily pleased! The Allegrismo Drinks Package is well worth buying before you go, as drinks are expensive and 15% added at the bar everytime you buy something. All the cocktails were included and my favourite drink Baileys was included, so I was very pleased ! I will finish for now , hope Ive not waffled on too much, will write some more later
