I just recalled some things, regarding this development. Theyre saying that, because of the slow response time of the Stirling Engine, it couldnt be used in vehicles, BUT, years ago I was reading about a CVT - continuously variable transmission - is that idea still around? Did it ever work out? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuously_variable_transmission It was being considered, decades ago, for the rotary engines being used in Mazdas, because they had more power at lower RPM and a specific RPM that they were most efficient at. But I also read something about using a heavy flywheel, to store energy when a car was stopped at a light, that could be used to accelerate again when the light turned green, thus saving an enormous amount of energy that usually gets wasted in stop and go traffic. Did that ever get implemented? SO Im wondering if things like that might make the Stirling feasible for vehicles too? forbes/sites/christopherhelman/2014/07/02/dean-kamen-thinks-his-new-stirling-engine-could-power-the-world/?utm_campaign=techtwittersf&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social #stirling #deankamen
