I just received a message from a former student. When I was that persons teacher, I recall thinking how little effort s/he put into completing assigned work and tried to encourage that student to work harder but to no avail or so it appeared! Now, MANY years later, I receive this message telling me that back then, good marks meant nothing to that student whose only thought was getting a passing grade and getting out of school. Now, that student is grown and is a parent with a child who lacks motivation! I had to laugh!!
