I just received the following solicitation from Harvard Law - TopicsExpress

I just received the following solicitation from Harvard Law Professor, Larry Lissig, who is not the most liberal guy in the world, but he has a major problem with pay-to-play politics, and he describes Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) as the worst offender of all. Heres his solicitation: This is Mayday PAC co-founder Lawrence Lessig. It’s time. If we’re going to reform the way campaigns are funded, we need to stand up to kingpin politicians at the heart of corruption. We need to make an example of them to show that we, the people, want our democracy back. This is why today, we are throwing the weight of our movement behind reform, and against a 27-year incumbent whose time has come. FRED UPTON EXEMPLIFIES MONEYS CORRUPTING INFLUENCE IN POLITICS, and we are going to give this bought politician a run for his money (so to speak). PCCC members have given nearly $200,000 so far to this campaign -- but we still have a ways to go. Watch MAYDAYs new ad in Michigan -- then chip in $3 to help air it on TV and send shockwaves through the political system. As Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Upton has taken over $10M from special interests and consistently puts his big-money donors ahead of his constituents. And we’ve got just the person to replace him. Mayday -- the Super PAC to end all Super PACs -- will back Paul Clements in Michigan’s 6th District. Paul supports real reform legislation, the Government By The People Act, which would match small-dollar donations and decrease the influence of big-money donors. Paul has a proven track record on reform and is running the most competitive campaign against Upton in over a decade. Upton has narrowly held on to this seat for 27 years, and the voters know it’s time for a change. In 2012, Upton won re-election by the smallest margin of his career. Congress is broken because of its dependence on big-money interests, and Chairman Upton is perpetuating this never-ending cycle. We’re putting everything we have into this race, because UPTON IS THE WORST OF THE WORST. As a Congressman, he’s taken $2.5M from big drug, insurance, and related interests. It’s time to stop him. Will you help us make money in politics the defining issue in this critical election? Let’s keep fighting back. —Lessig
