I just recently moved and I remember counting down the days and thinking about how much work I still had to do. No matter how hard I worked, or how much time I spent packing, I couldnt see a light at the end of the tunnel. In fact, it felt like the more I tried to get done, the more there was to do. I wish I could tell you that I had a very organized move- instead the move was kind of chaotic, and on Moving Day I just wasnt prepared. Even though I knew I was moving, and even though I had spent many weeks preparing, I was still unprepared. In the Bible we are told of another move, a different move, a move to heaven. In John 14:2-3 we read that Jesus went to prepare a place for us. It says, In my Fathers house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Jesus will come again, and He will gather His children and bring them to their new, permanent home. And just like my move, when this happens, many will be unprepared. Instead of waiting and watching, many will be rushing around trying to get everything done and taken care of. Many will be distracted by the unimportant things... and even though they had all the warning signs of the end time, they will be surprised as if by a thief in the night just as it says in 1 Thessalonians 5:2, For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. Look at the world we live in today and read 2 Timothy 3:1-5, and ask yourself if todays world fits that description. It says, This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. This is a true picture of our world today. This world is in chaos, things that seem to be happening without any reason. We are realizing that the world is no longer safe, and we are threatened by terroristic threats, wars, and natural disasters like never before. In some ways it reminds me of the confusion I went through right before I moved. The biggest difference is that with my move I knew the day and the time, but with Christ we do not. We cannot let ourselves be distracted by the little things, or let ourselves be carried away from His Word. We cannot follow others who live without self-control; who live without God. We must instead be watching and waiting for our Lord to come. So I ask you today, are you ready? Its easy to say, Yeah, Im ready. But are you truly ready and waiting looking for Christs return. It could happen any week, any day, any minute or any second....BE READY!!! Also share Christs return with others as Matthew 24:44 says, Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Be Blessed!!
