I just recently read where an often publicly praised church leader made a statement defending his lack of contention for the faith. I cant help but see the irony. A man that is often touted as a man of God, is not willing to contend for what he believes to be the truth of God, but is instead willing to take the time to defend such faithless neglect. All the while using the excuse of not having the time and others just want to argue. In this I cant help but think about the much more well-known pastors who have larger ministries, authored several if not hundreds of books, and even write their own blog articles for the sake of edifying the Church and calling sinners to repentance. I cant help but think about how they make the time to answer the hard questions usually in a comprehensive manner, careful not to make an appeal to the audiences emotions for the sake of appeasement. I cant help but think of the men who, while in the midst of reading, writing, and raising their families, take the time to answer their critics and challenge their own congregants. Since when are shepherds given the luxury to shy away from contention and challenges? Its when people choose to blindly follow such men that they fail to see the danger theyre in. Be mindful of who it is in whom you confide or whose words you give credence. Being behind a pulpit no more qualifies a man to teach and preach than a person standing in a garage qualifies him to be a mechanic. I recommend the following: Jude 3; 1 Peter 3; 2 Corinthians 10:5; Philippians 1:7; Titus 1:9; Luke 12:12. #Lincolnton #Church #Christianity
