I just remembered an experience I had when I was in my early teens. We were at Old Chevak during fishing season. We would go on long walks around our camping area and when we were walking back, I remember we passed a grave and than found a giant patch of red juicy looking berries at the end of the slew bend. I stayed behind snacking, knew exactly where I was, which was at the end of our swimming area if the lake and still had a good 10 min walk to take from there. Anyways, I think I had like 4 handfuls of berries and decided to go back to the tent, but when I stood up, I was already near the tent! Which confused me for a bit because I did not walk far from that patch and it was only tundra nunapiks I seen, I didnt walk through the marshy wetlands of grass and puddles like I was supposed to. I did not walk around the lake either because the lake was between that patch and camp. But I didnt think much of it because I was happy I didnt have to walk far. But on my way to the tent I kept thinking of how I got there so fast and instead of sharing my story, I forgot about it when I got to the tent.
