I just replaced four MR16/GU10 50W Halogen bulbs with 5W LED - TopicsExpress

I just replaced four MR16/GU10 50W Halogen bulbs with 5W LED bulbs. I have to say that the amount of light that it produces on the surfaces is about equivalent. There is no sideways light (light leaking out the side of the bulb), but spots dont really need this kind of light. I paid about $9.00 ea. from Amazon. A 50W bulb costs about $50/year in electricity if run 24/7, so if this light is on 8 hours per day, it costs $17 each per year. The four original lamps woud cost me $68/yr to use. The new LEDs will cost me less than $7/year to provide the same light. Bottom line: over the 20,000 hour life of the four lamps, I should save over $400. That is real money and that is just for four small track lights!
