I just returned from my second chemotherapy at the Sime Darby - TopicsExpress

I just returned from my second chemotherapy at the Sime Darby Hospital last Thur. Thank God for a smooth session. Slight nausea and malaise for 3 days. Today, we are fit to drive back to Ipoh. Many friends and relatives have given a lot of advice to me, some from personal experiences. Most of the advice are practical and sensible, like taking lots of fluids from coconut water to fruit juices and honey. Plenty of anti-oxidants. Some have recommended proprietary supplements. Also advice on exercises and various alternative therapies. We really appreciate all the advice and concern. Obviously we cannot follow all the advice, but follow whichever we think are appropriate. As a medically trained person, we have to examine the evidence-based therapies with proper research on the success rates. We do not doubt that anecdotal cures do occur, with any diet or treatment or exercise. However most alternative treatments are not evaluated scientifically. Fortunately, the lymphoma I have in my stomach is still early, and lymphomas have high chance of cure or remission. There is no need for surgery and the chemotherapy is relatively "less toxic"with mild side-effects. After going through two sessions, I am pleasantly surprised by the ease I went through. Dr Tan Yew Oo from Singapore reminded me that the present PM Singapore has been cured nearly 20 years ago, even without the latest drug which I am receiving. Certainly, we welcome your prayers. They certainly have helped us physically, mentally and spiritually. After all, doctors can treat BUT it is GOD who HEALS! With deep appreciation for all your love and concern.
