I just saw Selma. I found myself weeping. Brilliantly written, produced and directed. David Oyelowos acting nailed MLK. He and everyone gave chilling, emotional performances surrounded by the backwards arrogance, blatant hatred, injustice and vicious violence that took the lives of far to many black men and women as well as so very many whites who only wanted long promised equality and the right to vote. They died for a promise that to this day continues to be challenged and denied. Perhaps I wept because that history that unfolded 50 years ago I witness as a child and am witness to its hateful return getting stronger in the events of 2014. I look into the past that is still present and know it remains as relevant today as back then. Add to the ongoing injustices to blacks happening today, the reality that the poor are becoming the new niggars, of America and that we must understand that class distinction, poverty and hunger have no color. Each day more and more rights and liberties are being taken, a harsh reality that expounds exponentially. I see a future coming where some thing, some event, will force the hand of change. We can not let history repeat itself. Go see this movie, for its artistic meaning as well as its historical value. Take the opportunity to understand and decide which side of the line you really stand on and ask yourself do you have the courage to stand up for your beliefs. We are the heroes weve been waiting for and now is the time. Selma Official Trailer #1 (2015) - Oprah Winfrey, Cuba Gooding Jr ... m.youtube/watch?v=x6t7vVTxaic
