I just saw an interesting thread thats been going on for 6 hours. It began with a post about interracial relationships. At present weve reached the point in which one woman, whose husband is White, (I dont know how she came to be a member of a closed Black group) is blowing her critics away by naming off the things she and her husband are doing that she believes is helping the Black community. These things all include compliance and begging, of course. The trouble is that the people who are challenging her either do not recognize the supposed good she is doing as detrimental to the Black community or they simply dont know how to communicate it---more than likely both. So the argument degraded into a cussing contest and I quietly removed myself from the group. One thing is for certain. those who call themselves Afro-conscious will continue to lose these types of arguments, as long as we spend more time doing other things that are apparently more important to us than building an infrastructure. And the bed wench in this case has one. Even more important is the fact that we must realize at some point that success for us, so-called revolutionaries should not resemble that of mainstream American success. Were having a bit of trouble redefining it to our own taste, which is why so many of our people are willing to sell their integrity for pennies on the dollar. But the people who she argued with did not even recognize that it was the infrastructure of White supremacy standing behind her, that she was bragging about, because they dont even know what an infrastructure looks like.
