I just saw this picture of a news article saying teacher advised student to act less gay if they wanted to stop getting bullied. This made me want to share my story. When I was in middle school, you had to wait in the cafeteria for your bus if you stayed after school. While waiting, 2 bigger kids started teasing this kid from my class at another table. They took his pen while he was trying to do his homework, holding it over his head , and just giving him a hard time. I looked around to see that the teacher who was supposed to watch over the cafeteria until all the kids were gone wasnt there. I also noticed that nobody was going to help this kid. I decided to step in and help my classmate. I went over and told them to leave him alone. They didnt like that. The friend of the one holding my classmates pen got in my face. I yelled Leave my friend alone! He said Make me. and pushed me. I pushed back. He didnt like me pushing him back, so he kept pushing me until my back was to the wall. When I was against the wall, I noticed my classmate get up from his seat and push the bully that had his pen. He fought his bully while I fought his bullys friend. I hurt my back slightly from getting pushed hard against the wall multiple times, the teacher still wasnt there to help end the fight, and all the other kids were just spectating. Finally, the teacher came back, called the next bus, and the 2 bullies left me and my classmate go so they could get to their bus. It was also my classmates bus, so he grabbed his stuff and left, but not before walking by to thank me for helping. After I sat back down, the teacher came to the door of the cafeteria, looked at me, smiling, and yelled You shouldnt be messing with those guys. They could really hurt you. This happened years ago, but I started thinking about it recently. I realized how little that teacher cared about bullying, going as far as telling the victims not to mess with the people bullying them.
