I just sent this email to a woman who is emigrating to New Zealand and asked me to help her find homes for her four cats, who apparently have taken over the house, made us love them unconditionally and are now family. Youre relocating in Feb and you are only starting now to try to find homes for them? It often takes months to find homes for single animals, dogs are a lot easier than cats to home, and homing 4 cats together is close to impossible, so you have an unrealistic expectation. Im not sure what you mean by loving them unconditionally, since clearly the condition of relocating is not included, and if they were human family, would you also leave them here because its too expensive? So Im not sure what you mean by family either. My 8 dogs are my family and that means our relationship is for life, not negotiable. So given the choice between relocating and them, relocating would have to be excluded. Id rather live on the street than abandon them. Every time someone emigrates and rehomes their animals, they take up homes that animals living in shelters could have had, and because shelters have limited resources, those animals are put to sleep. I will still help your animals, so please send the info asap. D
