I just sent this to KSLA TV My name is David Deaton, Yesterday I was involved in a road rage incident with one of their log truck drivers. The entire thing is documented,with photos....the truck,the trailer,the driver threatening me with his tire bat!! Photos are all over Facebook now....the people took the ball and rolled with it. I called Greer Timber Inc(springhill la) about it and they seemed to be cooperative,at first,but they were also supposed to call me today to resolve this...and i heard nothing. Guess safety,and the fact that they have a maniac driving an 80,000 lb death wagon around,carrying a weapon and threatening drivers with ,is not a main concern.....im sure because it doesnt turn them a profit. Facebook is BLOWING UP over this....mainly because i am a regional musical celebrity,and a well known stand up guy. Im actually hosting the allstar jam at the JAMES BURTON INTERNATIONAL GUITAR FESTIVAL on the 22nd. Its time for these log truck drivers to realize they cant bully tiny cars like mine (fiat 500) into doing what they want. And they do not have clearance to drive in that crazy dangerous manner with a full load of pulpwood. For ANY REASON. EVER. and they surely cant try to ram you from behind,then waive them by,and have him serpentine the lanes at 35 mph only to SLAM on his breaks as i was trying to pass,almost impaling me!! My windshield was busted,and my tire was cut.... From his aggressive and ridiculous driving. I did everything in my power to get out of this guys way,mainly because i dont have a death wish. There is no competition between the fiat and a fully loaded pulpwood truck. We were in the middle of nowhere on a hilly curvy backwoods road (la 2 into tx 49 crossing into tx) where the limit is 70 mph for a passenger car in perfect conditions,not a fully loaded log truck. On that road the deer are so bad that nobody drives the 70 that your allowed....they are everywhere,and i am not endangering myself because a truck driver decides he wants to go faster than he should. If you look at my record....I havent had a car accident in over 15 years Or a moving violation even!! Fact is,I drive most of the time....traveling hours to get to my gigs everyday,usually around 1000 miles a week,so im no road dummy. Ive driven cars,busses,box trucks,vans,Rvs cross country... The only thing that saved me was my reflexes. He was basically trying to run me in the ditch one way or another in the middle of nowhere and kill me with no witnesses. Pure evil. And since that didnt work....the next step was beating me with his bat! I just thought you guys might find this interesting....and any help getting justice,and exposing this issue would be greatly appreciated.
