It’s calling on the US distributor of the film Pride not to straight-wash the DVD cover. https://go.allout.org/en/a/pride-straightwashed Pride is an award-winning movie - a heartwarming true story of lesbian and gay people helping Welsh families in the 1984 miners strike. Its being released on DVD in the USA but the distributor photoshopped out all references to gay and lesbian people from the cover. The blurb now vaguely refers to the films protagonists as London-based activists. It pretends the generous folks in the film weren’t gay and lesbian as if its something to be ashamed of. This rewriting of history is dangerous and wrong as it feeds anti-gay attitudes. The distributor – CBS Films – is under pressure to change the DVD cover to honour the pivotal role that lesbian and gay people played in this story. But we need as many people as possible to sign the petition before we deliver it in two days, to ramp up this pressure. https://go.allout.org/en/a/pride-straightwashed Thanks!
