I just spent the last 8 days on a big ship, traveling through the eye of Hurricane Simon( add that to my list of things Ive done before I turn 50! it was NOT a great experience, and I have never been as sick as I was on Sunday with 145 mph winds and 10 foot white caps!....Traveling from the Observation Lounge after jamming in an all-nighter ProAM Jam with Dennis Jones on the front of the ship to see Bernard Allison in the Stardust Lounge completely on another end of the ship with waves crashing over the pool deck reminded me of why The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was even written!) to port of call in Mexico all the while, the caliber of musicians that I was privy to listen to over the past 8 days will stay with me for the rest of my life! These gifted players are one and the same with us common cruisers all week. They are just like all of us, eating, drinking, swimming........you know. Yes, I drank OJ next to Eric Burdon, talked to Los Lobos, Deva Mahal (Tajs daughter) became my companion at the pool often. Oh, I witnessed Bernard Allison pay tribute to his father the legendary, Luther Allison, singing Serious (As A) Heart Attack and danced the night away to The Lowrider Band (aka: War) on the cusp of being nominated for induction into the R and R Hall of Fame this year. Royal Southern Brotherhood blew my A## away, as did the 44s with their killer sound! The pictures do not do it justice but Im so blessed that I was able to experience this greatness. Eric Burdon and his band sounded incredible and his hits just kept on coming......To see all of these bands (many of them playing 3-4 times over the course of a week) would have cost anyone a fortune in concert tickets. Danielle Schnebelen of Trampled Under Foot gets down to the nitty gritty with her vocals and stage presence. And Leon Blue, well that little old guy I believe had quite a crush on the old Kell Bell ;)Yes, I had a fabulous, mind blowing, epic time!
