I just spoke to Elizabeth Norris, the community relations manager for Ride The Rockies. She said no decision has been made at this point about if the Ride will still be coming through Canon City this weekend. Officials are waiting on weather reports and working with various agencies in making that determination. However, she did say the goal is come through Canon City on Friday and Saturday as planned. Canon City Chamber Executive Director Doug Shane sent the following this afternoon: On Friday evening at Macon Plaza, between 5th and 6th streets there will be a very large fund raising event, community dinner, and Ride the Rockies Party. This party will take place from noon till midnight with three bands including Adam Ashley, Krush, and The High Side Command. This will be the last overnight stay on the Ride the Rockies Bicycle ride and we intend to make sure all our riders are well welcomed into the Royal Gorge Region. This event will also be a fund raiser to raise funds for the same non-profits mentioned. We encourage everyone to come out and not only have a great time but help a great cause and celebrate the Ride the Rockies Event.
