I just took my brother Mark for a car ride on a cold night up here in the U.P. Rather than sit around, I picked him up and drove thru the backroads of Delta County, nearly alone......just chill out and crank up the classic rock and look at the world around us. Can there be anything better? I give my brother credit.... Mark is the oldest kid in the family..... I think he was 12 or 13 when I was born. He was one of the first people that introduced me to ROCK, and was of the Golden Age of classic rock for sure. He set up a car stereo in my bedroom when I was 10, burned me about 10 cassettes of his LPs, many of which are the Holy Grail......... Dark Side Of The Moon, Joes Garage, The Wall, Double Vision, IV, Kinda Blue, etc...... I wore them out. Somehow, it became my life. I cant imagine my world WITHOUT music. If any of you have kids or brothers and sisters this Christmas, just like my brother did for me (and my sister Amy too......), get them into music. Instead of video games, how about a nice sounding stereo they can hear in a room, maybe together with friends, not only in their earphones. There is a BIG difference to hearing music in the open, not only to yourself. I remember when people proudly had the loudest stereo in town. School them on The Greatest Records Of All Time. Why the Beatles MATTERED and werent just an oldies band. Encourage them to listen if they say Im Bored. Let them play the music THEY love FOR YOU. I think there is nothing greater in the entire world than experiencing music together with those that you love.
