I just walked off my porch and as soon as my foot touched the landing at the bottom of the stairs, a small mexican boy about 40 feet away yelled, Now! Get the bag! And then the 3 other children around him SCRAMBLED off the sidewalk to both sides while he held a stick in the air, and came back almost instantly brandishing: 1) A black trash bag, 2) two sticks brandished as a cross, 3) a red plastic rocking horse and a wooden campaign sign spike... All 3 staring at me prepared to charge. ME: Ummm... What are you playing? LITTLE MEXICAN BOY: ...Draculas. I turn in a circle. Nobody else there... Yup. Apparently living in my neighborhood comes with the added benefit of, me, obviously being the local community evil-so-dark-hell-dare-not-speak-its-name. #GivingBackToTheCommunity
