I just want to make one thing clear. I dont support Israel for any kind of religious or ethnic bias. I personally am religiously agnostic and could care less if youre Christian, Jewish, Muslim or whatever. I support Israel on the principles of freedom and democracy and the fact that they are one economy in the region being run right; a shining example to the countries around them. CIA World Factbook describes Israels government as a parliamentary democracy with a legal system of primarily English common law. GDP per capita of $38K puts it in line with the developed world. What of its neighbors? Egypt: A constitutional Republic (for now) put in place by military coup. GDP per capita of $6700 Lebanon: republic with limited suffrage. GDP per capita of $16K Syria: Mass murdering authoritarian regime, GDP per capita of $5100 Jordan: constitutional monarchy. GDP per capita of $6100 Israel is the LIGHT in a sea of DARKNESS. The barbarians at the gate want nothing of it and Israel MUST defend itself; not only for its own survival but so that a light of democracy, freedom and capitalism can continue to flicker in that dark part of the world.
