I just want to mention that I have never been much of a Facebook - TopicsExpress

I just want to mention that I have never been much of a Facebook user (or abuser as many others seem to be). I mean they abuse themselves with excessive overuse to the exclusion of sleep and other necessary activities. Alright, now that I have criticized others unduly and without warrant, I want to use this as my life may have become something to chronicle. Today, after my best day in class yet, I was able to wander the village as the weather was moderate and many people were out and about in the village where I live. As I walked along the main road (a term loosely applied here), There were many vendors of all sorts along the roadside. I walked through fruit and vegetable stands, purveyors of all sorts of comestibles (pre-cooked, freshly cooked or raw), clothing racks and tables, household wares, entertainment products and even tools and home repair items. Most people, especially the children, were quite intrigued by this obviously non-Asian heavy guy. I watched people and animals wander the streets while I took in the culture. I even saw an exotic (at least one I formerly had not witnessed)bird in a cage. Food vendors were deep frying things I am not sure of, grilling meats I was unable to recognize, and descaling and filleting seafood I thought of as fish tank ornamentation heretofore. I did recognize the eel and have actually eaten that one previously. I actually settled upon two large Chinese potato Latkes, for lack of the indigenous term. I had one with a soy/sesame sauce and the other with a pepper (spicy) based sauce. The latter was excellent. Yesterday, from my 5th floor room, I heard a steady beating sound coming from off in the distance. I went out onto the balcony and heard the sound of percussion instruments being played. I thought a young (as it did not sound as though an accomplished musician was playing) drummer was practicing. However, the pulsing sound seemed to be approaching. Then I saw a small band of 4-5 people playing in a procession emerge from an alley way across from my vantage point. They were followed by a group of formally dressed celebrants. I then noticed the array of luxury vehicles. They were all made by Audi. The lead car was decorated with pink flower garnishes surrounding the outline and a large arrangement adorned the center of the hood of that same car. I surmised it was a wedding procession. Four hours later, I heard the same beat, looked out and saw the vehicles return and the Bride and Groom exited that decorated Audi. I was now sure as she wore a beautiful, traditional, white lace wedding gown. Four days earlier on the ride into work, I heard and saw a procession of horn playing musicians wearing white sashes around their wastes. My driver told me someone had died. I happened to video tape a portion of the wedding procession and may post some of that on Facebook. I went to a students home for dumplings and had a chance to play guitar as his father knew every song I played and sang along. The dad is from the Northeast of England, near York. Then we went to a club, Harrys Forbidden, and watched the local house band. They were a group from the Philippines. They were excellent, especially the lead vocalist, and played three great sets. Songs included, Solsbury Hill, Master of Puppets, Dont Stop Believing, Crazy Train, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Welcome to the Jungle, and Bohemian Rhapsody. The latter was surprising good. I would have thought that one to be too ambitious, yet they did justice to that phenomenal song. The student and his sister got up and joined in three songs as the lead guitarist was their music teacher. I think I am done for now. I will be posting more photos, videos and adventure stories. I miss cooking and family the most. I am unsure of the order of those two. Maybe they are on equal terms. I did get to watch many sporting events, albeit at unusual times. I sleep from 7:00 pm- 1:00 am and the awake to watch college basketball. GO GATORS. Scott On the way home, I would love to take a slow boat FROM Ch..............Well, you know the old saying!!!
