I just want to say that Ive been eating mostly just rice and dahl, bathing in a bucket (or icy river), sleeping in beds ranging from hard to basically just a board with a blanket, to just sleeping on the cold ground in a tent. Ive traveled to 14,000 ft above sea level to the source of the holiest river on earth and I got there via plane, train, scary bus rides on crumbling narrow roads flanked by steep and high cliffs, carried by a pony who scaled loose rocks and even steeper cliffs and narrower passageways like a mountain goat, and scrambled on foot, exhausted. And its been fantastic, truly. Ive learned so much about devotion, faith, God, resilience, tapas, grace..... But just for tonight I am really happy to be absolutely stuffed with a variety of outstanding dishes, including chocolate ice cream. Our hotel room has a bath this time. A bath. And toilet paper. And air conditioning. And a really comfy bed. Dont get me wrong, I love the simple life. Im just having a moment of extreme gratitude.
