I just want to say that those of you who have spent the day gloating over the government shutdown have made me revise my estimate of your intelligence downward. There is a case to be made for smaller government or against certain programs, sure. I might not agree with you on it - or I might -- but there is a respectable case to be made. However, taking a machete to clearly needed programs does nothing, absolutely nothing, to advance that case and actually hurts your agenda in the long run. If you think the IRS or the BIA have abused their powers, the solution to this is *not* to shut down food programs and preschools. Think, people, think. Remember who you are mad at.
