I just want to send a hearty Thanks! to all the people who have befreinded me and accepted my friend request, and have a desire to see this move forward. You are the people who could make this happen! I dont know how I would have gotten started if not for all the wonderful green ribbons and lyme colored profile pictures that alerted me to who was in the Lyme community. So thank you also, for being visible. Its quite impressive and shocking, even, to see how many people have been devastated by this horrible disease. I was asked how much I am charging for my services. I am doing this pro bono for the benefit of people with Lyme and similar diseases, so we can share information that will improve the quality of life of those afflicted with this, and raise awareness in the community. We need a single brand that the world will recognize and trust so that our information and fundraising will be taken seriously. If you believe this is necessary, please join in and invite your friends. But this is also an experiment, at this point. If I see that the Lyme community seems less than interested in getting this done, as evidenced by the numbers of people befriending this page, and joining the discussion, I will go where I can make more of a difference. I am currently putting my projects on hold because I think this is so important. But as I used to tell my kids, If you try to help people who dont want to be helped, youre not helping. I will move on, if I feel thats the case. I appreciate the members of the Lyme community who recognize the need for a centralized web page. Lets see what a week of effort shows. Without momentum, this will not get off the ground. By Monday, the 8th, I will have enough data to know if this has the potential to be a success or not. If supportive, you are only responsible for sharing info about this effort, on your walls and in your groups, and inviting your friends to join in. Theres no commitment other than being willing to see whats going on, and to help raise the numbers. Without numbers, our boards and committees will be over-burdened. If the group is not large enough, we will not have the resources -- writers, researchers, attorneys, graphic artists, copy writers, editors, fundraisers, grant writers, etc., that we will need to make this a success. I can do most of this myself, true, but I do not see this as my page -- but YOUR page -- your resource. People can leave at any time, once they have a idea of what this is about, if they decide its not what they can get behind. But starting immediately, we need them here, to drive momentum and spread a wide net for talent and info.. I will leave this site up as a place to post links and info., even if we abandon the effort for lack of interest, (but I will rescind my offer to build the global site for the greater Lyme community, pro bono).
