I just want to take a moment out of my night to bring something into the light. I have been asked a handful of times this year the following question: If you dont believe in God, then what do you believe in? What is left? This is a fair question that I feel may not be clear nor addressed often enough. It is fair on the basis of, I constantly question and criticize many of your beliefs and you have just as much right to criticize mine as I do yours. What I believe in, I believe that we have one opportunity to live this life the way we want to live it. One chance. No do overs no re runs no life ever after. What you experience now is all there is to living. It is ultimately our choice how to accept, cope, and move forward after accepting this probable truth. I believe that we owe it to each other to be decent human beings so that we all may enjoy and partake in this life while we have it. I believe that life is an intriguing and glorious thing when we look at where we are at. Watching what evolution has done in the long history of existence is truly god like and deserves praise. I ultimately believe our search for truth and for understanding must be met with accurate and truthful information, not just something that will comfort us in a time of fear. Because that is what life is. Its fearful, scary, unpredictable, and ultimately uncontrollable. But creating a false sense of security can only eliminate fear at the surface, not at the core. I often feel people see me as godless and think that I no longer possess passion, love, curiosity, and most of all faith. I have faith in people. Whether they deserve it or not. One chance to live. Then die. And then become part of a much larger system. Something that unconsciously goes on forever without us. We do in fact leave legacies, we just do not get the chance to look down from the sky to watch that legacy grow, which just makes this life so much more important.
