I just want to take a moment to specifically speak to my adopters, - TopicsExpress

I just want to take a moment to specifically speak to my adopters, and those that are interested in adopting rats. There is a good reason to buy from a breeder. The line I am working with rarely gets tumors, and only in old age. The breeder I work with that I got these rats from hasnt had a tumor in 3 years! Which when you are breeding and never have less than 20 rats of different ages.. thats a long time. So purchasing from a breeder could save you money, and is often well worth the drive, the price and the hassle of finding the right one for you. This is of course assuming the breeder you choose breeds for health. On the flip side, if you, like me, have rescued rats. Consider spaying them while they are young. A $100 spay will drop the likelihood of tumors from 40-70% (depending on the line and quality of the rat) down to a tiny 4%! So a simple $100 for a spay will almost completely prevent paying $200-300 for a tumor removal. And many rats not only get one tumor, they get multiple, turning that $200-300 into hundreds and hundreds over time. I personally am going to start saving up to get as many of my younger girls spayed as possible. Not just to save myself money, but save the rats the hassle of having tumors!
