Dad flew 21 missions with his crew and their plane was Shot down on the 569ths 114th mission on 5/29/1944 over Leipzig, Germany, seven days before the D-Day invasion. Crew members: Pilot Carl D. Nesbit-KIA Co-Pilot Robert E. Patterson POW. Bombardier- Melvin B. Meyer-KIA, Lester A. Miller- Waist Gunner - POW, William J. St riffle Waist Gunner-POW, Weldon A. Pillow- Radioman-POW. Lyle L.
