I just wanted to give a shout out to a friend of mine for no particular reason, but he has done well and deserves a little praise. John Meshefski, grew up next door to me in the metropolis known as Lees Creek. We both came from middle to lower class families, but peoples income levels didnt cross our minds. We were more interested in how many kids a new family had or if they had girls that would sun tan in their backyard, lol. We played all kinds of pick up games of every sport you can imagine, but John played less than most because he had his mind on fixing things. Stereos, small appliances, bicycles, stereos, but mainly motorized vehicles of any kind. The term shade tree mechanic is a good way to describe the Meshefskis. from their Dad, Rick, John and Tommy. Linda was a sun tanner, lol. John would go crazy if he were a kid these days. He always had to be busy. But his form of busy wasnt video games or online chatting. He was happier with a wrench or screwdriver in his hand. I was the sports freak and he was the mechanical kid. We both served in the Marines, but on separate coasts. We got in one fist fight. It was a doozy, and guess what brought us to blows? Yep, a girl. My love of sports led me nowhere, but Johns wrench turning paid off because he owns a very successful machine shop. I dont see John much any more, but I should. It feels good to see people like John succeed. Nothing special in high school, but he couldve been. His form of college was dive right in and learn by trial and error. John liked to find out how something works and wasnt afraid to modify it to make it better. The original Tim the Toolman Taylor you might say. You could say John dont touch that wire and he would say why not? Then proceed on getting the shit shocked out of his hand when he grabbed it. Or when he found out the hazzard of welding without a mask. He came crawling over on hands and knees to our house because his eyes matted shut when he took a nap. I could go on and on about John or any of the kids in that town, but Ill close by saying, Im proud of John because he represents what America is all about. He was not handed his business, he saw the opportunity and seized it. I wont turn this into a political soapbox, but John is everything a Liberal hates. So I hope the govt will leave these successful small businesses alone. You didnt build that ... OH YES HE DID, Barack!
