I just wanted to let you guys know something. I received a call from the American Red Cross. They want to highlight Dalissa and her story. Our recent blood drive was such a success. We had donors who were O- and AB- and these are the kings/queens of blood donors with them being so rare. A huge portion of our donors were African Americans and this is so important due to the antibodies/antigens that our race produces. So hopefully the next time I get to host a blood drive and when you go online to register (please go online to register, this determines the staff they bring) then you are gonna see Dalissas face and be able to read her story. The importance of blood donation is so great and far exceeds Dalissa but I am so proud of my baby. She deserves to have her story told and the world needs to know how sickle cell affects her life. Please donate blood. Im telling you lives are saved because of it. Try not to let one bad experience turn you away from it. Dont get discouraged if you have a waiting period or someone else tells you this extravagant horror story. Im not gonna lie, its even been rough on me when I give blood but the benefits outweigh any uncomfortable feelings I may have. I just want to say thanks again to everyone.
