I just wanted to make a quick little rant. I understand that there are some people who didnt agree with me doing scaled and felt I should have done RX in this comp. So I want to set the record straight. The labrum in my shoulder is still torn. I knew without a shadow of a doubt the weight and standards in RX would have been too much for me, my choice to scale had nothing to do with wanting to win. I had to swallow my own pride and realize that if I had done RX then I risked injury myself more and I wasnt about to do that. Now getting 1st has nothing to do with being solely strong or faster, it was mentality that pushed me. In the army they teach you to never quit, to never give up, and most of all to put those to the left and right of you first. Knowing I had Kayla Muyskens counting on me to do my part was enough for me to push past pain, that and a copious amount of pain meds. I knew that if I quit, or slowed down, Id be letting her down. Ill be the first one to tell you thats not who I am. She deserved the best from me and thats what I have her. My gym and athletes I train on a daily deserved for me to go represent to the best of my abilities, so I did just that. I take pride in recognizing the accomplishments of those around me. For that I will say this; Miki Schroeder have everything to help Geoffrey Borque on WOD 1. The mental struggle he had was apart by his body language. But geoff stepped up in 2 to pull in the heavy weight. Josh Herriage and Melia Pence did an amazing job. They communicated, put in the hard hours preparing, and it showed. Their overall endurance was something special to watch. But most amazing was josh being able to step up for melia in WOD 1, his strength gains have been tremendous. Finally Steve Redmond II and Sarah Sauer deserve credit where credit is due. Sarah has been fighting a recent leg injury but still came in to give it her all. Steve pushed a fantastic weight of 185 on WOD 2 to help bring them up 8 places. Although they had to withdraw because of injuries, the fact that they recognized their limits is commendable. So with that said, if you feel that I wrongly chose to go scale in order to win, please let me know so I can set you straight. Thank you everyone who came, competed, and supported us all. You all were amazing!
