I just wanted to put something up on this page. I recently went to the RED BARN RUN. It was my first time. My horses first time. I have camped with horses and ridden most my life. I dont consider myself a great horsewoman. But I get by. Anyway.. Im 46(almost 47 shh). I have been chasing the dream of riding an endurance ride for almost 14 years now. 14 years is long time to wait. I finally did it and I am very proud of my horse and myself. But that isnt what I want to put up here. I want to tell everyone what an amazing experience I had. From the minute I drove up with my horse. Someone was there to answer my questions. I came by myself. No crew, no Mentor. Just me and my Horse. Everyone and I mean Everyone was FANTASTIC. From the Ride manager, to the pulse timers, the vets, the other riders, the food. By far the BEST Part was the New riders meeting the night before. We were treated to a complete walk through of the race for the following day and I am here to tell you had I not gotten that brief. I would have been a very frustrated rider the next day! When I couldnt remember what was next. I asked. I always got plenty of help. The second best part was at the finish of my LD, I was coming in and going to go back to my trailer to untack my horse before getting her pulse. If it wasnt for the awesome ladies in the pulse tent. I would have missed my 6 hour cut off. They stopped me and asked me to check her pulse. So I didnt miss the cut off time. She was already pulsed down. This is exactly what keeps people coming back AERC.. I want you to know this. Good friendly people, Helpful, This is how you do it right. I couldnt have asked for a better first experience. Even with a broken stirrup and rain. Every Volunteer and every person I had contact with was a positive learning experience. Keep up the good work. I will defiantly be back again and I will defiantly be volunteering to pay it forward. Great Experience!!
