I just wanted to say a heartfelt THANK YOU for the hundreds and HUNDREDS of thoughtful comments, and dozens and dozens of messages and emails and texts about my moms death. I couldnt even keep up with them all, but my whole family appreciates them so much. Its overwhelming (but no surprise) to see how many people my mom touched in her life. Everyone at her wake and funeral, said such amazing things about her and I know how much everyone will miss her. So thank you for that (and also for all the birthday wishes for me). But there was one little incident that sticks in my memory as much as the service itself. I mentioned as I choked through my moms eulogy, how everyone from the FedEx driver, to the grocery store checkout ladies, to the bank tellers, to the car repair mechanics and everyone in between, knew and loved my mom. It wasnt just her good friends. She touched virtually EVERY person she came in contact with. And this was confirmed for me once again at the end of the service, after we carried her casket into the waiting hearse. We all touched it for the last time..and then I noticed a woman who I had never even seen before, walk up and touch it and just started WAILING crying. And I thought to myself that since Id never seen her before, how well could she have actually known my mom, and yet she was still so clearly devastated about her loss. And it wasnt even surprising...
