I just wanted to take a minute this morning to thank some very important members of our community who stepped up and helped make our Fair such a great thing. We all know what a special area we live in. We all know what a tight community we have. And we all know that when we need something, the local businesses always step up and offer what they can to help out. This year, our local businesses stepped up in a big way. Thank you to Dennis Company for all the donations. From chicken food, to rabbit food, to every nut, bolt, light bulb and just plain asking how things are going out the Fair every time I came with a list of things I had to have. You guys get so many requests and you always come through. Your staff is great and they were always so helpful with a laugh or an answer to my millions of questions. Without you, we would be sunk. Thank you Buds Lumber. Again, there was never a time that I came in for one more thing that your staff didnt just walk through the store with me and help me figure out what that thingy was that I really needed...even when I had to make a phone call and make sure I was getting the right thing. Patience go a long way when you are not sure what you are looking for! And the out of the blue offer for some beauty bark for the front of the commercial building was just what we needed to make our grounds look inviting. Such a simple thing...but so perfect. To the businesses who sold our pre-sale carnival coupons, The Menlo Store, Pioneer Grocery, South Bend Pharmacy, Sagens Pharmacy, Everybodys, Everyones Video and Long Beach Visitors Bureau. You guys are amazing and we really could not have sold what we did without you. We once again sold every ticket they gave us...and then some...thereby helping the parents out there who would otherwise have had to pay more for their kids to enjoy the rides and games at the Fair. A nice break, especially when school shopping was just around the corner! I saw how much people gave...and trust me, it means a lot when people are willing to step up and show up. And because of your help, they did, in a big way! Kay at the The Menlo Store was a life saver on so many levels. Having lived next to the Fairgrounds for so long has made her an invaluable part of what we do. Who else would remember that the carnival needs gas before they can set up and run the rides and just who to send them to. Really...a life saver...especially when, if we didnt have that, we would have had people waiting. To all these businesses, community service is what you gave...love for your community and those that live in it...thats what we cherish the most. Shop local is a slogan that we hear a lot. But, really, its something that we should all do. Because without these great people, our little community just wouldnt be what it is. And, as always, a simple thank you never seems enough.
