I just watched Channels TVs usual coverage of the #BringBackOurGirls Campaigners in Abuja on its 10pm News. The campaigners were criticising the Federal Government for what they alleged to be a N100million largesse given to the families of the abducted girls. This is really getting out of hand! So what is wrong with giving money to the families of the Chibok girls to bring them some succour especially since many of the parents are said to have developed health problems due to the trauma they are going through and have had their livelihoods disrupted? The Presidency has even denied that any money was given. The campaigners keep blaming the government on the false premise that nothing is being done to rescue the girls whereas many soldiers have been killed while in combat against Islamist jihadist terrorists in a bid to rescue the Chibok girls. How utterly insensitive to the families of our gallant military personnel who have paid the ultimate price for our nation! Ask the government critics what else they want done or what suggestions they have for the rescue of the girls and they become tongue-tied or incoherent. Surprisingly, even Dr. Obiageli Oby Ezekwesili could not propose a viable rescue plan when she was asked this exact question on BBCs Hard Talk last week. It is time that the Bring Back Our Girls campaigners change their strategy. They are unduly antagonistic and combative. Their objective and that of the Federal Government is the same: to rescue the Chibok girls and bring them back home alive and well. There is no need for conflict in this regard. God bless Nigeria. Nigeria di fure!
