I just watched One Night In Hell, and I really wanted to tell you - TopicsExpress

I just watched One Night In Hell, and I really wanted to tell you all that I loved it. Its extremely short (7 minutes) and cost me $5.00 - Im not sure I would have paid that, knowing it was so short, but still, I enjoyed it tremendously. What is it? Its a short film created with digital animation, sound effects, music (sounding a lot like Queen, since it was done by Queens guitarist and chief songwriter Brian May), and voice acting, bringing to life in short, loosely connected (story-wise) segments, several Diableries antique stereo cards. Diableries were stereo cards produced in France in the latter half of the 19th century - 200 or so were made - which were clay dioramas meticulously detailed, showing little devils, skeletons, demons, and pretty women, in Hell, or doing devilish things, then photographed for stereo views. Also, the cards are unique among stereo views because they were semi-transparent and had a hidden colorized effect. The image appears colorless and gray at first, but when light is allowed to pass through the card from behind the colors come to life, including red glowing eyes. I had seen Brian Mays book Diableries on sale before, but didnt think it looked interesting. Then I saw there was an iPhone app for viewing the stereo cards, so I decided to give that a try, and got hooked. I found it very interesting and extremely well produced. The stereo cards were all scanned in very high resolution and touched up nicely. There are handy English translations of the French titles, detailed descriptions of each card; whats going on in each scene, and comments about the political satire behind them, and even a button you can press to trigger the illusion of the light passing through them to colorize them. I recommend this app too, certainly. But again .. the short film One Night In Hell. Its available in 2D from iTunes, but if you want to see it in stereoscopic 3D you have to buy the Deluxe version on Vimeo. But its cool. Its very VERY cool! https://youtube/watch?v=2HHB9kvZ-LE
