I just watched a documentary called The Galapagos Affair: Satan Comes To Eden. The true unsolved mystery revolves around three sets of people who decide to start a new life of solitude on the remote island of Floreana in the Galapagos Archipelago, the trials and tribulations of starting and maintaining a settlement on the nearly barren island, and their tragic attempts to live with each other. The people include a German philosopher, student of Nietschze and his wife, a young family also from Germany, inspired by the news stories of the first couple, and an aloof French baroness who intended to use the island to start a big hotel. All kinds of crazy stuff happens to these people, some of which is expected because of where and how theyre living, and some just because theyre all still human beings and have feelings. Then, people start disappearing. The documentary, the way it tells the story, with interviews of all the children and grandchildren of the initial settlers, the voiceover readings of journalist accounts and sailor logs, also personal accounts from journals of the actual people involved, is just absolutely riveting. And the fact that this actually happened is just literally unbelievable (I googled the heck out of this afterwards just to make sure). If you like a good unsolved mystery, this is the documentary for you. https://youtube/watch?v=Wf2txEIcg6E
