I just watched a phone interview with Senator Rand Paul. Immediately after was an interview with John Bolton former US embasader to the UN. I like and very much respect John Bolton. He is a very intelligent and knowable man when it comes to foreign affairs. But tonight he showed his misunderstanding of or constitution and the act of war. He claims that the POTUS does have the power to take us to war with it congressional approval. This is far from the truth. The President only has the constitutional ability to involve us in conflict when there is eminent danger. This means when we are under possible or actual attack. Syria is not in the position of threat to the US. To compound this, If we should attack and Syria leadership falls, we become more endanger if threat by those who would gain control. The President in this situation MUST SEEK CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL. Now I ask, if the Congress votes no to an attack, what will Obama do? Will he push the envelope? If he does and Congress does not impeach him, we will be faced with questions some of us have known we would be faced with for a long time. Prepare for the worst and pray for the best.
