I just watched a video of a six or seven year old little girl singing and rapping about the tragedy at Sandy Hook. It profoundly affected my day. My first thought was that it looked uber produced. You know, as in maybe just a little bit exploitative. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that little kids should never ever know anything about this kind of pain let alone have it be so familiar to them. I am saddened and will hug my grandchildren a little tighter today and will renew my commitment, once again, to do my damndest to protect their innocence.
